Wisdom 1

How to read these pages: the text itself comes first, verse by verse, in the volume's own translation. Beneath each verse stands its Meaning — a rendering of what the passage's terms name in the inner life, drawn from the correspondences the text itself uses. The text is never altered; the meaning is offered, not imposed.

King James Version

1Love righteousness, ye that be judges of the earth: think of the Lord with a good (heart,) and in simplicity of heart seek him.

Love right relation to the divine order, you ruling and judging faculties of the outer life: think of the indwelling LORD with a good heart, and in singleness of heart seek Him.

2For he will be found of them that tempt him not; and sheweth himself unto such as do not distrust him.

For He is found by those that do not put Him to the proof in distrust; and He shows Himself to those who do not distrust Him.

3For froward thoughts separate from God: and his power, when it is tried, reproveth the unwise.

For crooked, sense-turned thoughts separate a state from the Source: and His power, when it is tried, exposes the unwise state.

4For into a malicious soul wisdom shall not enter; nor dwell in the body that is subject unto sin.

For into a soul-state set on harm Wisdom — the divine Love-Wisdom of the Source, ordering all things — shall not enter; nor dwell in the outer form that is subject unto error.

5For the holy spirit of discipline will flee deceit, and remove from thoughts that are without understanding, and will not abide when unrighteousness cometh in.

For the holy Breath of discipline — the acting Presence that trains the faculties — will flee deceit, and withdraw from thoughts that are without understanding, and will not abide when a state twisted from the order comes in.

6For wisdom is a loving spirit; and will not acquit a blasphemer of his words: for God is witness of his reins, and a true beholder of his heart, and a hearer of his tongue.

For Wisdom is a loving Breath; and she will not clear the blasphemer of his words: for the Source is witness of his inmost affections, and a true beholder of his heart, and a hearer of his tongue.

7For the Spirit of the Lord filleth the world: and that which containeth all things hath knowledge of the voice.

For the Breath of the indwelling LORD fills the outer world: and that which holds all things together has knowledge of the voice.

8Therefore he that speaketh unrighteous things cannot be hid: neither shall vengeance, when it punisheth, pass by him.

Therefore he that speaks things out of right relation cannot be hid: neither shall the settling of accounts, when it confronts a state, pass by him.

9For inquisition shall be made into the counsels of the ungodly: and the sound of his words shall come unto the Lord for the manifestation of his wicked deeds.

For inquiry shall be made into the counsels of the godless state: and the sound of his words shall come unto the indwelling LORD for the laying bare of his disordered deeds.

10For the ear of jealousy heareth all things: and the noise of murmurings is not hid.

For the ear of the divine jealousy — the order that tolerates no rival in the soul — hears all things: and the noise of murmurings is not hid.

11Therefore beware of murmuring, which is unprofitable; and refrain your tongue from backbiting: for there is no word so secret, that shall go for nought: and the mouth that belieth slayeth the soul.

Therefore beware of murmuring, which profits nothing; and refrain your tongue from backbiting: for there is no word so secret that it shall go for nothing: and the mouth that lies slays its own soul-state.

12Seek not death in the error of your life: and pull not upon yourselves destruction with the works of your hands.

Seek not the death-state in the error of your life: and pull not destruction upon yourselves with the works of your own hands.

13For God made not death: neither hath he pleasure in the destruction of the living.

For the Source made not death: neither has He pleasure in the destruction of the living.

14For he created all things, that they might have their being: and the generations of the world were healthful; and there is no poison of destruction in them, nor the kingdom of death upon the earth:

For He created all things, that they might have their being: and the generations of the world were healthful; and there is no poison of destruction in them, nor the kingdom of the death-state upon the outer life:

15(For righteousness is immortal:)

(For a state in right relation to the divine order is immortal — it does not die:)

16But ungodly men with their works and words called it to them: for when they thought to have it their friend, they consumed to nought, and made a covenant with it, because they are worthy to take part with it.

But godless men with their works and words called death to them: for when they thought to have it as their friend, they wasted to nothing, and made a covenant with it — a law of relationship with dissolution — because they are fit to take part with it.
