The Book of Enoch 101
How to read these pages: the text itself comes first, verse by verse, in the volume's own translation. Beneath each verse stands its Meaning — a rendering of what the passage's terms name in the inner life, drawn from the correspondences the text itself uses. The text is never altered; the meaning is offered, not imposed.
Charles translation (1917)
1Observe the heaven, ye children of heaven, and every work of the Most High, and fear ye Him and work no evil in His presence.
Observe the heaven — the inner realm — ye children of heaven, states born of that realm, and every work of the Most High, the Source under that title, and fear ye Him and work no evil, no error, in His presence.
2If He closes the windows of heaven, and withholds the rain and the dew from descending on the earth on your account, what will ye do then?
If He closes the windows of heaven — the ordered openings of the inner realm — and withholds the rain and the dew, the descending inflow of truth, from descending on the earth, the outer life, on your account, what will ye do then?
3And if He sends His anger upon you because of your deeds, ye cannot petition Him; for ye spake proud and insolent words against His righteousness: therefore ye shall have no peace.
And if He sends His anger upon you because of your deeds, ye cannot petition Him; for ye spake proud and insolent words against His righteousness, His right order: therefore ye shall have no peace, no rest within the order.
4And see ye not the sailors of the ships, how their ships are tossed to and fro by the waves, and are shaken by the winds, and are in sore trouble?
And see ye not the sailors of the ships — the faculties that venture across the sea, the great subconscious — how their ships are tossed to and fro by the waves, the movements of unformed thought, and are shaken by the winds, the moving influences of the spirit, and are in sore trouble?
5And therefore do they fear because all their goodly possessions go upon the sea with them, and they have evil forebodings of heart that the sea will swallow them and they will perish therein.
And therefore do they fear because all their goodly possessions go upon the sea with them, and they have evil forebodings of heart that the sea will swallow them and they will perish therein — all their trust carried out into the deep with them.
6Are not the entire sea and all its waters, and all its movements, the work of the Most High, and has He not set limits to its doings, and confined it throughout by the sand?
Are not the entire sea and all its waters — the whole reservoir of thought — and all its movements, the work of the Most High, and has He not set limits to its doings, and confined it throughout by the sand, the appointed boundary where the waters must stop?
7And at His reproof it is afraid and dries up, and all its fish die and all that is in it; But ye sinners that are on the earth fear Him not.
And at His reproof it is afraid and dries up, and all its fish die — the living movements of the deep — and all that is in it; but ye sinners that are on the earth, error-bound states in the outer life, fear Him not.
8Has He not made the heaven and the earth, and all that is therein? Who has given understanding and wisdom to everything that moves on the earth and in the sea.
Has He not made the heaven, the inner realm, and the earth, the outer realm, and all that is therein? Who has given understanding and wisdom to everything that moves on the earth and in the sea, to every faculty stirring in the outer life and in the subconscious deep?
9Do not the sailors of the ships fear the sea? Yet sinners fear not the Most High.
Do not the sailors of the ships fear the sea, the great subconscious they must cross? Yet sinners, the error-bound states, fear not the Most High.
