The Book of Enoch 12
How to read these pages: the text itself comes first, verse by verse, in the volume's own translation. Beneath each verse stands its Meaning — a rendering of what the passage's terms name in the inner life, drawn from the correspondences the text itself uses. The text is never altered; the meaning is offered, not imposed.
Charles translation (1917)
1Before these things Enoch was hidden, and no one of the children of men knew where he was hidden, and where he abode, and what had become of him.
Before these things Enoch — the faculty that walks with God — was hidden, and no one of the children of men knew where he was hidden, and where he abode, and what had become of him.
2And his activities had to do with the Watchers, and his days were with the holy ones.
And his activities had to do with the Watchers, the vigilant, guarding faculties, and his days were with the holy ones, the states wholly of the divine order.
3And I, Enoch was blessing the Lord of majesty and the King of the ages, and lo! the Watchers called me--Enoch the scribe--and said to me:
And I, Enoch, was blessing the Lord of majesty and the King of the ages, and lo! the Watchers called me — Enoch the scribe, the recording faculty who writes the order of states — and said to me:
4'Enoch, thou scribe of righteousness, go, †declare† to the Watchers of the heaven who have left the high heaven, the holy eternal place, and have defiled themselves with women, and have done as the children of earth do, and have taken unto themselves wives: "Ye have wrought great destruction on the earth:
'Enoch, thou scribe of righteousness, go, declare to the Watchers of the heaven who have left the high heaven, the holy eternal place in the inner realm, and have defiled themselves with women, the affection-states, and have done as the children of earth do, and have taken unto themselves wives: "Ye have wrought great destruction on the earth, in the outer life:
5And ye shall have no peace nor forgiveness of sin: and inasmuch as †they† delight themselves in †their† children,
And ye shall have no peace, no rest within the order, nor forgiveness of sin, no release from your error; and inasmuch as they delight themselves in their children,
6The murder of †their† beloved ones shall †they† see, and over the destruction of †their† children shall †they† lament, and shall make supplication unto eternity, but mercy and peace shall ye not attain."'
The murder of their beloved ones shall they see, and over the destruction of their children shall they lament, and shall make supplication unto eternity, for the lasting age, but mercy and peace shall ye not attain."'
