The Book of Enoch 19

How to read these pages: the text itself comes first, verse by verse, in the volume's own translation. Beneath each verse stands its Meaning — a rendering of what the passage's terms name in the inner life, drawn from the correspondences the text itself uses. The text is never altered; the meaning is offered, not imposed.

Charles translation (1917)

1And Uriel said to me: 'Here shall stand the angels who have connected themselves with women, and their spirits assuming many different forms are defiling mankind and shall lead them astray into sacrificing to demons ⌈⌈as gods⌉⌉, (here shall they stand,) till ⌈⌈the day of⌉⌉ the great judgement in which they shall be judged till they are made an end of.

And Uriel — “light of God,” the illumination-faculty — said to me: ‘Here shall stand the angels who have connected themselves with women, whose spirits, assuming many different forms, are defiling mankind and shall lead them astray into sacrificing to demons as gods — to formed images of lesser goods worshipped in the Source’s place — here shall they stand, till the day of the great judgment, in which they shall be judged till they are made an end of.’

2And the women also of the angels who went astray shall become sirens.'

And the women also of the angels who went astray shall become sirens — alluring sense-voices that sing a state away from its watch.

3And I, Enoch, alone saw the vision, the ends of all things: and no man shall see as I have seen.

And I, Enoch — the faculty that walks with God — alone saw the vision, truth seen by the inner eye, the ends of all things; and no man shall see as I have seen.
