The Book of Enoch 23
How to read these pages: the text itself comes first, verse by verse, in the volume's own translation. Beneath each verse stands its Meaning — a rendering of what the passage's terms name in the inner life, drawn from the correspondences the text itself uses. The text is never altered; the meaning is offered, not imposed.
Charles translation (1917)
1From thence I went to another place to the west of the ends of the earth.
From there I went to another place, to the west of the ends of the outer life.
2And I saw a ⌈⌈burning⌉⌉ fire which ran without resting, and paused not from its course day or night but (ran) regularly.
And I saw a burning fire which ran without resting, and paused not from its course day or night — through the illuminated state and the hidden state alike — but ran regularly, in its appointed order.
3And I asked saying: 'What is this which rests not?'
And I asked, saying: What is this which rests not?
4Then Raguel, one of the holy angels who was with me, answered me ⌈⌈and said unto me⌉⌉: 'This course ⌈of fire⌉ ⌈⌈which thou hast seen⌉⌉ is the fire in the west which †persecutes† all the luminaries of heaven.'
Then Raguel — the exacting faculty that calls every transgressing faculty to its reckoning — one of the holy divine ideas who was with me, answered me and said unto me: This course of fire which you have seen is the fire in the west which persecutes all the luminaries — the ordered lights — of the inner realm.
