The Book of Enoch 38
How to read these pages: the text itself comes first, verse by verse, in the volume's own translation. Beneath each verse stands its Meaning — a rendering of what the passage's terms name in the inner life, drawn from the correspondences the text itself uses. The text is never altered; the meaning is offered, not imposed.
Charles translation (1917)
1The First Parable. When the congregation of the righteous shall appear, And sinners shall be judged for their sins, And shall be driven from the face of the earth:
The First Parable. When the gathered company of the right-ordered states shall appear, and the error-bound states shall be judged for their errors, and shall be driven from the surface of the outer life:
2And when the Righteous One shall appear before the eyes of the righteous, Whose elect works hang upon the Lord of Spirits, And light shall appear to the righteous and the elect who dwell on the earth, Where then will be the dwelling of the sinners, And where the resting-place of those who have denied the Lord of Spirits? It had been good for them if they had not been born.
And when the Righteous One — the divine pattern in right relation to the order — shall appear before the eyes of the right-ordered, whose chosen works hang wholly upon the indwelling LORD of Spirits (the Source as sovereign of every spirit-state), and understanding shall dawn to the righteous and the elect who live in the outer life — where then will be the dwelling of the error-bound, and where the resting-place of those who have denied the indwelling LORD of Spirits? It had been good for them if they had never been born — never taken form.
3When the secrets of the righteous shall be revealed and the sinners judged, And the godless driven from the presence of the righteous and elect,
When the secrets of the right-ordered shall be revealed and the error-bound judged, and the godless driven from the presence of the righteous and elect,
4From that time those that possess the earth shall no longer be powerful and exalted: And they shall not be able to behold the face of the holy, For the Lord of Spirits has caused His light to appear On the face of the holy, righteous, and elect.
From that time those that possess the outer life shall no longer be powerful and exalted: and they shall not be able to behold the face — the presence — of the holy, for the indwelling LORD of Spirits has caused His understanding to appear on the face of the holy, righteous, and elect.
5Then shall the kings and the mighty perish And be given into the hands of the righteous and holy.
Then shall the ruling states and the mighty sense-states perish — pass away — and be given into the hands of the righteous and holy, to be ruled by them.
6And thenceforward none shall seek for themselves mercy from the Lord of Spirits For their life is at an end.
And thenceforward none shall seek for themselves mercy from the indwelling LORD of Spirits, for their course of life is at an end.
