The Book of Enoch 81
How to read these pages: the text itself comes first, verse by verse, in the volume's own translation. Beneath each verse stands its Meaning — a rendering of what the passage's terms name in the inner life, drawn from the correspondences the text itself uses. The text is never altered; the meaning is offered, not imposed.
Charles translation (1917)
1And he said unto me: 'Observe, Enoch, these heavenly tablets, And read what is written thereon, And mark every individual fact.'
And he said unto me: 'Observe, Enoch, these heavenly tablets — the recorded order of states, the memory-record of consciousness in which every deed and season stands written — and read what is written thereon, and mark every individual fact.'
2And I observed the heavenly tablets, and read everything which was written (thereon) and understood everything, and read the book of all the deeds of mankind, and of all the children of flesh that shall be upon the earth to the remotest generations.
And I observed the heavenly tablets, and read everything which was written thereon and understood everything, and read the book of all the deeds of mankind, and of all the children of flesh that shall be upon the earth to the remotest generations: the record of every state in its outer expression, down the whole line of states yet to come.
3And forthwith I blessed the great Lord the King of glory for ever, in that He has made all the works of the world, And I extolled the Lord because of His patience, And blessed Him because of the children of men.
And forthwith I blessed the great Lord, the King of glory, for ever — the Source, whose glory is the manifested weight of His Presence — in that He has made all the works of the world; and I extolled the Lord because of His patience, and blessed Him because of the children of men.
4And after that I said: 'Blessed is the man who dies in righteousness and goodness, Concerning whom there is no book of unrighteousness written, And against whom no day of judgement shall be found.'
And after that I said: 'Blessed is the man who dies in righteousness and goodness — the state that lays down its outer life in right relation to the divine order — concerning whom there is no book of unrighteousness written, and against whom no day of judgement, no crisis of reckoning, shall be found.'
5And those seven holy ones brought me and placed me on the earth before the door of my house, and said to me: 'Declare everything to thy son Methuselah, and show to all thy children that no flesh is righteous in the sight of the Lord, for He is their Creator.
And those seven holy ones — states wholly of the divine order — brought me and placed me on the earth before the door of my house, and said to me: 'Declare everything to thy son Methuselah, the preserving faculty, and show to all thy children that no flesh is righteous in the sight of the Lord: no state in its mere outward expression stands in right relation before the indwelling LORD, for He is their Creator, the Source who formed them.'
6One year we will leave thee with thy son, till thou givest thy (last) commands, that thou mayest teach thy children and record (it) for them, and testify to all thy children; and in the second year they shall take thee from their midst.
'One year we will leave thee with thy son, till thou givest thy last commands, that thou mayest teach thy children and record it for them, and testify to all thy children; and in the second year they shall take thee from their midst.
7Let thy heart be strong, For the good shall announce righteousness to the good; The righteous with the righteous shall rejoice, And shall offer congratulation to one another.
'Let thy heart be strong, for the good shall announce righteousness to the good; the righteous with the righteous shall rejoice, and shall offer congratulation to one another: state answering to state within the same right order.
8But the sinners shall die with the sinners, And the apostate go down with the apostate.
'But the sinners shall die with the sinners, and the apostate go down with the apostate: each error-bound state gathered to its own kind, and the state that fell away from the order descending with those who fell.
9And those who practice righteousness shall die on account of the deeds of men, And be taken away on account of the doings of the godless.'
'And those who practice righteousness shall die on account of the deeds of men, and be taken away on account of the doings of the godless: the right-ordered states laid down, and removed, because of what the error-bound states do around them.'
10And in those days they ceased to speak to me, and I came to my people, blessing the Lord of the world.
And in those days they ceased to speak to me, and I came to my people, blessing the Lord of the world: the Source, sovereign of the whole order.
