The Book of Enoch 1

How to read these pages: the text itself comes first, verse by verse, in the volume's own translation. Beneath each verse stands its Meaning — a rendering of what the passage's terms name in the inner life, drawn from the correspondences the text itself uses. The text is never altered; the meaning is offered, not imposed.

Charles translation (1917)

1The words of the blessing of Enoch, wherewith he blessed the elect ⌈⌈and⌉⌉ righteous, who will be living in the day of tribulation, when all the wicked ⌈⌈and godless⌉⌉ are to be removed.

The words of the blessing of Enoch — the faculty that walks with God — with which he blessed the chosen and right-ordered states, the states that will be living in the crisis-day, when every state twisted away from the divine order is to be removed.

2And he took up his parable and said--Enoch a righteous man, whose eyes were opened by God, saw the vision of the Holy One in the heavens, ⌈which⌉ the angels showed me, and from them I heard everything, and from them I understood as I saw, but not for this generation, but for a remote one which is for to come.

And he took up his parable — an outer story carrying an inner truth — and said: Enoch, a right-ordered man, whose eyes were opened by the Source, saw the vision of the Holy One in the inner realm, which the angels — the divine ideas ministering between the higher and lower consciousness — showed me; and from them I heard everything, and from them I understood as I saw; yet not for this order of states, but for one far removed, which is yet to come.

3Concerning the elect I said, and took up my parable concerning them: The Holy Great One will come forth from His dwelling,

Concerning the chosen states I said, and took up my parable concerning them: The Great Holy One — the Source under His title of greatness — will come forth from His abiding place,

4And the eternal God will tread upon the earth, (even) on Mount Sinai, ⌈And appear from His camp⌉ And appear in the strength of His might from the heaven of heavens.

And the eternal Source will set His tread upon the outer life, even upon Sinai — the exalted state where the law is given into form — and appear in the strength of His might from the highest inner realm.

5And all shall be smitten with fear And the Watchers shall quake, And great fear and trembling shall seize them unto the ends of the earth.

And all shall be smitten with fear, and the Watchers — the vigilant, guarding faculties — shall quake, and great fear and trembling shall seize them unto the outermost reaches of the outer life.

6And the high mountains shall be shaken, And the high hills shall be made low, And shall melt like wax before the flame

And the exalted states shall be shaken, and the lesser heights shall be brought low, and shall melt like wax before the flame of the Presence.

7And the earth shall be ⌈wholly⌉ rent in sunder, And all that is upon the earth shall perish, And there shall be a judgement upon all (men).

And the outer life shall be wholly torn apart, and every form that is upon it shall pass away, and there shall be a judgment upon all — the divine order confronting every state at once.

8But with the righteous He will make peace. And will protect the elect, And mercy shall be upon them. And they shall all belong to God, And they shall be prospered, And they shall ⌈all⌉ be blessed. ⌈And He will help them all⌉, And light shall appear unto them, ⌈And He will make peace with them⌉.

But with the right-ordered states He will make peace — rest within the order. And He will protect the chosen states, and mercy shall rest upon them. And they shall all belong to the Source, and they shall flourish, and they shall all be blessed — increased by the divine favour. And understanding shall dawn unto them, and He will make peace with them.

9And behold! He cometh with ten thousands of ⌈His⌉ holy ones To execute judgement upon all, And to destroy ⌈all⌉ the ungodly: And to convict all flesh Of all the works ⌈of their ungodliness⌉ which they have ungodly committed, And of all the hard things which ungodly sinners ⌈have spoken⌉ against Him.

And behold! He comes with ten thousands of His holy ones — states wholly of the divine order — to work the judgment upon all, and to dissolve every godless state; and to lay bare every faculty in its sense-bound life, in all the works of its disorder which it has committed in disorder, and in all the hardened words which godless, error-bound states have spoken against Him.
