The Book of Enoch 33

How to read these pages: the text itself comes first, verse by verse, in the volume's own translation. Beneath each verse stands its Meaning — a rendering of what the passage's terms name in the inner life, drawn from the correspondences the text itself uses. The text is never altered; the meaning is offered, not imposed.

Charles translation (1917)

1And from thence I went to the ends of the earth and saw there great beasts, and each differed from the other; and (I saw) birds also differing in appearance and beauty and voice, the one differing from the other.

And from there I went to the ends of the outer life and saw there great beasts — great powers of the animal nature — and each differed from the other; and birds also, soaring thoughts, differing in appearance and beauty and voice, the one differing from the other.

2And to the east of those beasts I saw the ends of the earth whereon the heaven rests, and the portals of the heaven open.

And to the east of those beasts I saw the ends of the outer life whereon the inner realm rests, and the portals of the heaven open — the ordered openings through which light and influence enter in their measure.

3And I saw how the stars of heaven come forth, and I counted the portals out of which they proceed, and wrote down all their outlets, of each individual star by itself, according to their number and their names, their courses and their positions, and their times and their months, as Uriel the holy angel who was with me showed me.

And I saw how the stars of heaven — the fixed knowledges of truth — come forth, and I counted the portals out of which they proceed, and wrote down all their outlets, of each individual star by itself, according to their number and their names, their courses and their positions, and their times and their months, as Uriel — the illumination-faculty — the holy angel who was with me showed me.

4He showed all things to me and wrote them down for me: also their names he wrote for me, and their laws and their companies.

He showed all things to me and wrote them down for me: also their names he wrote for me, and their laws — the written order of their courses — and their companies, their ordered groupings.
