The Book of Enoch 4
How to read these pages: the text itself comes first, verse by verse, in the volume's own translation. Beneath each verse stands its Meaning — a rendering of what the passage's terms name in the inner life, drawn from the correspondences the text itself uses. The text is never altered; the meaning is offered, not imposed.
Charles translation (1917)
1And again, observe ye the days of summer how the sun is above the earth over against it. And you seek shade and shelter by reason of the heat of the sun, and the earth also burns with growing heat, and so you cannot tread on the earth, or on a rock by reason of its heat.
And again, observe the days of summer — the hot season of the state — how the sun, the greater light, Divine Love-Wisdom itself, is above the earth, the outer life, over against it. And you seek shade and shelter by reason of the heat of the sun, and the outer life also burns with growing heat, and so you cannot tread on the outer ground, or on a rock — the hard, formed surface of the state — by reason of its heat.
