The Book of Enoch 41
How to read these pages: the text itself comes first, verse by verse, in the volume's own translation. Beneath each verse stands its Meaning — a rendering of what the passage's terms name in the inner life, drawn from the correspondences the text itself uses. The text is never altered; the meaning is offered, not imposed.
Charles translation (1917)
1And after that I saw all the secrets of the heavens, and how the kingdom is divided, and how the actions of men are weighed in the balance.
And after that I saw all the secrets of the heavens — the hidden order of the inner realm — and how the kingdom, the realm a ruling state governs, is divided, and how the actions of men are weighed in the balance, in the weighing of judgment.
2And there I saw the mansions of the elect and the mansions of the holy, and mine eyes saw there all the sinners being driven from thence which deny the name of the Lord of Spirits, and being dragged off: and they could not abide because of the punishment which proceeds from the Lord of Spirits.
And there I saw the mansions of the elect and the mansions of the holy — their abiding dwelling-states — and mine eyes saw there all the error-bound being driven from thence, who deny the name of the indwelling LORD of Spirits (the Source as sovereign of every spirit-state), and being dragged off: and they could not abide because of the punishment — the consequence — which proceeds from the indwelling LORD of Spirits.
3And there mine eyes saw the secrets of the lightning and of the thunder, and the secrets of the winds, how they are divided to blow over the earth, and the secrets of the clouds and dew, and there I saw from whence they proceed in that place and from whence they saturate the dusty earth.
And there mine eyes saw the secrets of the lightning — the sudden flashes of divine illumination — and of the thunder, the resounding utterance of the order; and the secrets of the winds, the moving influences of the Spirit, how they are divided to blow over the outer life; and the secrets of the clouds and dew, and there I saw from whence they proceed in that place and from whence they saturate the dusty outer life.
4And there I saw closed chambers out of which the winds are divided, the chamber of the hail and winds, the chamber of the mist, and of the clouds, and the cloud thereof hovers over the earth from the beginning of the world.
And there I saw closed chambers — appointed reservoirs where an influence is kept in its measure — out of which the winds are divided, the chamber of the hail and winds, the chamber of the mist, and of the clouds, and the cloud thereof hovers over the outer life from the beginning of the world.
5And I saw the chambers of the sun and moon, whence they proceed and whither they come again, and their glorious return, and how one is superior to the other, and their stately orbit, and how they do not leave their orbit, and they add nothing to their orbit and they take nothing from it, and they keep faith with each other, in accordance with the oath by which they are bound together.
And I saw the chambers of the sun and moon — the appointed stations of the greater light, Divine Love-Wisdom, and the lesser light, reflected faith — whence they proceed and whither they come again, and their glorious return, and how one is superior to the other, and their stately course, and how they do not leave their course, and they add nothing to their course and they take nothing from it, and they keep faith with each other, in accordance with the oath, the appointed bond of the divine order, by which they are bound together.
6And first the sun goes forth and traverses his path according to the commandment of the Lord of Spirits, and mighty is His name for ever and ever.
And first the sun — the greater light — goes forth and traverses his path according to the commandment, the rule of the inner order made plain, of the indwelling LORD of Spirits, and mighty is His name for ever and ever.
7And after that I saw the hidden and the visible path of the moon, and she accomplishes the course of her path in that place by day and by night--the one holding a position opposite to the other before the Lord of Spirits. And they give thanks and praise and rest not; For unto them is their thanksgiving rest.
And after that I saw the hidden and the visible path of the moon — the lesser, reflected light — and she accomplishes the course of her path in that place by day and by night, in the illuminated state and the hidden state — the one holding a position opposite to the other before the indwelling LORD of Spirits. And they give thanks and praise and rest not; for unto them is their thanksgiving rest.
8For the sun changes oft for a blessing or a curse, And the course of the path of the moon is light to the righteous And darkness to the sinners in the name of the Lord, Who made a separation between the light and the darkness, And divided the spirits of men, And strengthened the spirits of the righteous, In the name of His righteousness.
For the sun changes often for a blessing or a curse, and the course of the path of the moon is light — understanding — to the righteous and darkness — unilluminated consciousness — to the error-bound, in the name of the Lord, who made a separation between the understanding and the ignorance, and divided the spirits of men, and strengthened the spirits of the righteous, in the name of His righteousness, His right relation to the order.
9For no angel hinders and no power is able to hinder; for He appoints a judge for them all and He judges them all before Him.
For no angel hinders and no power is able to hinder; for He appoints a judge for them all and He judges them all before Him.
