The Book of Enoch 42

How to read these pages: the text itself comes first, verse by verse, in the volume's own translation. Beneath each verse stands its Meaning — a rendering of what the passage's terms name in the inner life, drawn from the correspondences the text itself uses. The text is never altered; the meaning is offered, not imposed.

Charles translation (1917)

1Wisdom found no place where she might dwell; Then a dwelling-place was assigned her in the heavens. 2

Wisdom — Divine Wisdom herself — found no place where she might dwell among the states of men; then a dwelling-place was assigned her in the heavens, in the inner realm.

2Wisdom went forth to make her dwelling among the children of men, And found no dwelling-place: Wisdom returned to her place, And took her seat among the angels. 3

Wisdom went forth to make her dwelling among the children of men, and found no dwelling-place: Wisdom returned to her place, and took her seat among the angels, the divine ideas.

3And unrighteousness went forth from her chambers: Whom she sought not she found, And dwelt with them, As rain in a desert And dew on a thirsty land.

And unrighteousness — the state twisted out of right relation to the order — went forth from her chambers, her kept reservoirs: whom she sought not she found, and dwelt with them, as rain in a desert — influence falling on the waste-state — and dew on a thirsty land, settling where consciousness is parched.
