The Book of Enoch 53
How to read these pages: the text itself comes first, verse by verse, in the volume's own translation. Beneath each verse stands its Meaning — a rendering of what the passage's terms name in the inner life, drawn from the correspondences the text itself uses. The text is never altered; the meaning is offered, not imposed.
Charles translation (1917)
1There mine eyes saw a deep valley with open mouths, and all who dwell on the earth and sea and islands shall bring to him gifts and presents and tokens of homage, but that deep valley shall not become full.
There my eyes saw a deep low state in the subconscious, with open, swallowing mouths; and all who dwell in the outer life, and in the great subconscious, and in the separated island-states shall bring to him gifts and presents and tokens of homage — but that deep low state shall not become full, for its appetite is never satisfied.
2And their hands commit lawless deeds, And the sinners devour all whom they lawlessly oppress: Yet the sinners shall be destroyed before the face of the Lord of Spirits, And they shall be banished from off the face of His earth, And they shall perish for ever and ever.
And their hands commit deeds apart from the divine law, and the error-bound states devour all whom they oppress apart from that law: yet those error-bound states shall be dissolved before the face of the indwelling LORD of Spirits, and banished from the face of His outer life, and perish for a lasting age.
3For I saw all the angels of punishment abiding (there) and preparing all the instruments of Satan.
For I saw all the angels of punishment — the divine ideas that execute the reckoning — abiding there and preparing all the instruments of Satan, the adversarial sense-mind.
4And I asked the angel of peace who went with me: 'For whom are they preparing these instruments?'
And I asked the angel of peace — the divine idea of rest within the order — who went with me: 'For whom are they preparing these instruments?'
5And he said unto me: 'They prepare these for the kings and the mighty of this earth, that they may thereby be destroyed.
And he said unto me: 'They prepare these for the ruling states and the mighty states of this outer life, that they may thereby be dissolved.'
6And after this the Righteous and Elect One shall cause the house of his congregation to appear: henceforth they shall be no more hindered in the name of the Lord of Spirits.
And after this the Righteous and Elect One — the Anointed pattern enthroned — shall cause the house of his gathered company to appear: henceforth they shall be no more hindered in the name of the indwelling LORD of Spirits.
7And these mountains shall not stand as the earth before his righteousness, But the hills shall be as a fountain of water, And the righteous shall have rest from the oppression of sinners.'
And these exalted states shall not stand as the stable outer life before his right-ordering, but the lesser heights shall flow as a fountain of living thought, and the right-ordered states shall have rest from the oppression of the error-bound.'
