The Book of Enoch 6

How to read these pages: the text itself comes first, verse by verse, in the volume's own translation. Beneath each verse stands its Meaning — a rendering of what the passage's terms name in the inner life, drawn from the correspondences the text itself uses. The text is never altered; the meaning is offered, not imposed.

Charles translation (1917)

1And it came to pass when the children of men had multiplied that in those days were born unto them beautiful and comely daughters.

And it came to pass, when the children of men — the multiplying human states — had multiplied, that in those days were born unto them beautiful and comely daughters — the fair affections of the soul born within them.

2And the angels, the children of the heaven, saw and lusted after them, and said to one another: 'Come, let us choose us wives from among the children of men and beget us children.'

And the angels — the divine ideas, the children of the heaven, the inner realm — saw and lusted after them, and said to one another: 'Come, let us choose us wives from among the children of men — let us join ourselves to the affections of the human states — and beget us children.'

3And Semjâzâ, who was their leader, said unto them: 'I fear ye will not indeed agree to do this deed, and I alone shall have to pay the penalty of a great sin.'

And Semjâzâ — the ruling faculty of the descent, who binds the others by oath to the fall — who was their leader, said unto them: 'I fear you will not indeed agree to do this deed, and I alone shall have to pay the penalty of a great sin — error that greatly misses the mark.'

4And they all answered him and said: 'Let us all swear an oath, and all bind ourselves by mutual imprecations not to abandon this plan but to do this thing.'

And they all answered him and said: 'Let us all swear an oath, and all bind ourselves by mutual imprecations — error organising itself, faculties covenanting with one another to hold the fallen order in place — not to abandon this plan but to do this thing.'

5Then sware they all together and bound themselves by mutual imprecations upon it.

Then swore they all together and bound themselves by mutual imprecations upon it — the covenant of error sealed among the faculties.

6And they were in all two hundred; who descended ⌈in the days⌉ of Jared on the summit of Mount Hermon, and they called it Mount Hermon, because they had sworn and bound themselves by mutual imprecations upon it.

And they were in all two hundred, who descended in the days of Jared on the summit of Mount Hermon — the exalted state where the descent was sworn — and they called it Mount Hermon, because they had sworn and bound themselves by mutual imprecations upon it.

7And these are the names of their leaders: Sêmîazâz, their leader, Arâkîba, Râmêêl, Kôkabîêl, Tâmîêl, Râmîêl, Dânêl, Êzêqêêl, Barâqîjâl, Asâêl, Armârôs, Batârêl, Anânêl, Zaqîêl, Samsâpêêl, Satarêl, Tûrêl, Jômjâêl, Sariêl.

And these are the names of their leaders — the ruling faculties of the descent: Sêmîazâz, their leader, Arâkîba, Râmêêl, Kôkabîêl, Tâmîêl, Râmîêl, Dânêl, Êzêqêêl, Barâqîjâl, Asâêl, Armârôs, Batârêl, Anânêl, Zaqîêl, Samsâpêêl, Satarêl, Tûrêl, Jômjâêl, Sariêl.

8These are their chiefs of tens.

These are their chiefs of tens — the ruling faculties set over their companies of ten.
